Cookie policy
What this site stores on your device, what it does, and how your choice works. Last updated August 2026.
The short version
This site sets no cookies at all until you choose. If you accept analytics, Google Analytics sets its cookies so we can see how the site is used. If you decline, nothing is set and the site works exactly the same. Separately, the site counts page reads on its own server without cookies or any identifier, so we can see what gets read without following anyone.
How your choice works
The first time you visit, a banner asks whether you're happy for us to measure visits. Your answer is remembered on your device (in local storage, not a cookie), so we don't ask again. Analytics is off by default: until you accept, every measurement signal is denied at the browser level.
You can change your mind any time: clear this site's data in your browser settings and the banner will ask again on your next visit.
The cookies, when you accept
Google Analytics (measurement): _ga and _ga_* cookies, which distinguish visitors anonymously so repeat visits aren't double-counted. They hold a random identifier, not your name, email or anything typed into this site. Retention follows Google Analytics defaults [retention period to confirm; default 14 months].
Nothing else. No advertising cookies, no social media trackers, no third-party embeds that follow you around the web.
